Ominira Initiative for Economic Advancement is a non-profit organisation established in 2019 to research and advocate solutions to Africa’s socio-economic issues. We primarily execute our mission through stakeholder engagement, publications, online videos, infographics, and events.

We’re seeking a driven and creative Communications Manager to lead our storytelling, media strategy, and advocacy outreach. The successful applicant will oversee our communications channels, engage diverse stakeholders, and ensure our voice shapes conversations on economic and social policies.

Location: Ibadan, Nigeria.        

Contract: 1-year (renewable) – Full-time

Requirements/Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or related fields. 
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a media/communication role.
  • Good knowledge of digital marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with editing and proofreading articles.
  • Knowledge of political, economic, and social issues.
  • Good understanding of multimedia and video production. Must be comfortable using software such as Canva, CapCut, Davinci Resolve or similar apps.
  • Should be able to travel within and outside Nigeria. 
  • Experience moderating events or managing advocacy campaigns.

Responsibilities

  • Manage video creation and distribution for OminiraTV, ensuring impactful and timely content delivery.
  • Develop and execute the organisation’s media and communications strategy.
  • Manage and grow the organisation’s social media presence to engage target audiences.
  • Produce newsletters, press releases, and other official communications in line with organizational projects and programs.
  • Build relationships with media professionals to amplify our advocacy.
  • Facilitate or moderate forums, workshops, and conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align communications with organisational goals.

Remuneration/Benefits

  • Salary: ₦2,160,000 per annum (₦180,000/month)
  • Plus: Occasional bonuses, travel allowances, and access to professional development opportunities.
