The Ominira Initiative seeks the services of qualified and experienced research consultants to support our Economic Freedom Audit of Nigeria Project. This project aims to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the state of economic freedom in Nigeria, to promote reforms that will enhance the country’s economic performance.
Largely based on the Economic Freedom of the World Report which is published annually by the Canada-based Fraser Institute, this audit will dive into Nigeria’s performance in the specific areas measured in the report vis-a-vis the current economic realities and trends in the country, drawing recommendations and actionable insights to inform better and favourable government policies.
In the latest release of the report (2024), Nigeria was ranked 113 out of 165 countries, with the country performing better in the areas of size of government (4), regulation (83), and sound money (90). However, this economic freedom audit will focus more on the two areas where Nigeria lags the most, namely: legal system and property rights (137) and freedom to trade internationally (159).
The consultants will be members of the working group that will conduct research and prepare a final report for this economic freedom audit. Additionally, the consultants will:
- Moderate the respective 1-day stakeholder workshops to be held in Abuja in September.
- Partake in the report’s pre-release press conference in January 2026.
- Speak at the Economic Freedom Audit main event that will be held in February 2026 in Lagos.
As remuneration, Ominira Initiative will pay each consultant a sum of ₦1,000,000 in two equal installments (first in September 2025, and the second in January 2026).
Interested and qualified individuals should kindly send a Letter of Interest (LoI) to info@ominirainitiative.org by 14th June 2025. Successful candidates will be reached by 30th June 2025.
